Below is a list of PTA committees and special jobs. Some have notes indicating they need more help. Our goal is to have every parent and teacher serve on 1 committee throughout the year. Scan the list and if you see somewhere you'd like to help, contact our volunteer coordinator or the committee chair.

Operations Committees and Special Jobs
Arts Partnership

Needs volunteers to develop programs for this year.
Communications
CHAIR: Karen Lewis
Handles email blasts and flyer communications on behalf of PTA.
Dads Fix-It Committee
 CHAIR: Eric Michaels
Needs anyone (not just Dads) who might be willing to help do small DIY projects around Hawthorne on evenings or weekends. Projects might include painting, cleaning, organizing, building shelves, patching holes, landscaping, etc.

Green Committee

Needs volunteers to work to improve Hawthorne recycling program and other green initiatives. Potential programs could include ink cartridge recycling, recycling program for lunchroom, recycling program for Hawthorne special events.
Grant Writing

Needs volunteers to implement a system of identifying potential grant sources, working with teachers and administration to develop fundable programs, and writing grant applications to fund the programs.

Needs volunteers who are adept at soliciting products from local businesses when the need arises. For example, soliciting paint to paint classrooms, coffee and snacks for meetings, or any other products or services.
